Mississippi SCORP

2019 - 2024

Outdoor recreation is essential to the health, environment, and economy of Mississippi.  The State is committed to planning, developing, and improving outdoor recreation areas and facilities to benefit all Mississippi residents and visitors.

The Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks (MDWFP) is currently updating the Statewide Comprehensive Outdoor Recreation Plan (SCORP). The SCORP is the state's official document regarding outdoor recreation planning. Updating the plan every five years is a requirement for Mississippi's participation in the Land and Water Conservation Fund State Assistance Program. The Land and Water Conservation Fund Program provides matching grants to states which distributes funds to local governments through an application process.

One of the key elements to updating the SCORP is the survey of public perspectives regarding outdoor recreation via a statewide public opinion survey.  Please visit the survey link to provide your feedback.  Your help is greatly appreciated.  By participating in the survey, you have the opportunity to influence the future of Mississippi’s outdoor recreation planning and development.
