Mississippi SCORP 2019-2024
Ensuring Mississippi's Outdoor Legacy
Outdoor recreation is essential to the health, environment, and economy of Mississippi. Mississippi offers a wide range of indoor and outdoor venues that offer activities for everyone. Whether you’re interested in youth sports venues or professional baseball, hockey or golf, Mississippi has something to offer you. The State is committed to planning, developing, and improving outdoor recreation areas and facilities to benefit all Mississippi residents and visitors.
The Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks (MDWFP) is currently updating the Statewide Comprehensive Outdoor Recreation Plan (SCORP). The SCORP is the state's official document regarding outdoor recreation planning. Updating the plan every five years is a requirement for Mississippi's participation in the Land and Water Conservation Fund State Assistance Program. The Land and Water Conservation Fund Program provides matching grants to states which distributes funds to local governments through an application process.
